Some people pick one discipline and get good at it. Donna-Jo and Levi built a space where they didn’t have to choose.
Donna-Jo Aarts and Levi Manner are the couple behind Studio Chunk, a creative production studio and daylight space in Amsterdam. What started as a side-project has grown into a full production house, creative agency, studio rental, and allround production, all under one roof.
A space built for making, not just for meetings.
“Studio Chunk started because we wanted to do something outside our own discipline,” Donna-Jo says. “We thought: okay, let’s create a space where we can facilitate our own making, but also that of others.” The studio isn’t a backdrop. It’s the reason the work happens the way it does.
From idea to image, start to finish.
What Donna-Jo and Levi love most is building a concept from A to Z. “Someone comes here and says: we want to make something. We like your style, can you help us? And we say: of course we can.” From there, it becomes a shared story, photography, video, social, whatever the idea needs. No fixed format, just the right one.

Ideas don’t wait for a schedule.
Ask them what makes it work, and the answer isn’t a process. It’s chemistry. “It’s special,” Donna-Jo says. “We can genuinely work well together.” Ideas surface through the week, not on command, carried by the simple fact of having the space to think in. When what’s in your head matches what ends up on set, that’s the whole point.
